Monthly DROP A STORY Prize Draw Terms and Conditions
-
The promoter of this prize draw is King’s Lynn Youth News (KLYN), info@klyouthnews.com.
-
Entry is free. No purchase is necessary to enter.
-
To enter, a young person must submit an original story, article, opinion piece, review, poem, or other approved content through the KLYN story submission form during the relevant calendar month.
-
Each valid story submission received between 00:01 on the first day of the month and 23:59 on the last day of the month will receive one entry into that month’s prize draw.
-
Entrants must be aged 11–21 and live in King’s Lynn, North Lynn, West Norfolk or the surrounding area, unless otherwise stated.
-
Entries must follow KLYN’s submission rules. Content that is bullying, abusive, threatening, discriminatory, sexually explicit, unsafe, misleading, or otherwise inappropriate will not be eligible for the draw.
-
Submission of a story does not guarantee publication. KLYN may review, edit, anonymise, decline, or remove submissions in line with its editorial, safeguarding, and moderation standards.
-
The winner will be chosen at random from all eligible entries received during that month.
-
The monthly prize is £20 Amazon Voucher. KLYN reserves the right to substitute the prize with a reasonable equivalent if necessary. Prizes are non-transferable and no cash alternative will be offered unless KLYN states otherwise. ASA guidance expects prizes to be awarded as described, or a reasonable equivalent if that is not possible.
-
The winner will be contacted using the details provided on the submission form within 7 days of the draw. If the winner does not respond within 7 days, KLYN may select another winner. If you include a response deadline like this, it should be stated clearly because it is a significant condition.
-
If the winner is under 18, KLYN may require confirmation from a parent, carer, school, or youth organisation before the prize is awarded, particularly where the prize reasonably requires adult permission. CAP guidance says promotions targeted at children must make clear when adult permission is required if the prize could cause conflict.
-
By entering, the entrant confirms that the submission is their own work or that they have the right to submit it, and that the information provided is accurate.
-
KLYN will use personal information provided for the administration of the submission and prize draw in line with its Privacy Notice. If you rely on consent for children’s personal data online, the ICO says under-13s need parental consent and you should make reasonable efforts to verify it; for older children, you still need an appropriate lawful basis and a clear process.
-
KLYN reserves the right to cancel, suspend, or amend the draw where necessary if circumstances outside its reasonable control make this unavoidable.
-
By submitting a story, the entrant is deemed to have accepted these Terms and Conditions.
